In 2001, a visionary physical therapist named Janet Shelley, saw a gap in the healthcare industry. While therapists were transforming lives in clinics, they were often overwhelmed by the complexities of billing and reimbursement. Robbie and Janet knew that therapists needed more than just a billing service. Those clients needed a partner who understood the unique rhythm of therapy practices. And so, Medical Billing Center (MBC) was born.
From the beginning, MBC was different. It wasn’t founded by accountants or tech entrepreneurs, it was built by therapists, for therapists. Janet Shelley, a seasoned clinician and business leader, brought a deep understanding of the therapy landscape. Her passion for operational excellence and her commitment to empowering fellow therapists became the heartbeat of MBC.
Over the years, MBC grew from a small, therapist-led startup into a trusted billing partner for outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy clinics across the country. In 2019, MBC took a bold step forward by joining Therapy Partner Solutions (TPS) a family of companies dedicated to helping therapy practices thrive. This partnership allowed MBC to scale its impact while staying true to its roots.
